A former student of the École Polytechnique, Alexandre Saubot began his career in various governmental positions (General Delegation for Armament, Treasury Department), in a ministerial office (Ministry of Culture and Communication) and in banking (Natexis Banque Populaire). Since 2000, he has been at the helm of Haulotte Group SA, a family-owned medium-sized company specialising in the manufacture of aerial work platforms and telescopic forklift-trucks. The company employs 1,900 people worldwide and generated €634m in revenue in 2024, more than 80% of which was generated outside France.
In March 2020, Alexandre Saubot was elected Vice-President of France Industrie, the professional organisation representing industry in France. He has been its President since November 2020. He has also been Chairman of the Board of Directors of France Travail since 31 January 2024.
Former President of UIMM (2015–2018) and Unedic, and former Vice-President of MEDEF and Pôle Emploi, he has solid experience in industry and professional organisations. From 2019 to 2021, he was the first president of OPCO 2i, an inter-industry skills operator.
France Industrie groups together 30 industry sector federations and the CEOs of some 50 large private and public companies operating in all industrial sectors. It is the main point of contact for public authorities on cross-cutting industrial issues: competitiveness, employment, ecological transition, innovation and digital technology, European industrial policy and regional attractiveness.
